The Irony

Three of Easley's most prominent endorsers became his most determined opponents:

  • Arturo Jimenez and Jeannie Kaplan endorsed him for District 4, then voted against him as part of the 3-member minority on every major reform vote on the DPS board.
  • John McBride, listed as a "community activist and local businessman," was the man who filed the recall petition against Easley in January 2011 — just over a year after endorsing him.
  • The Denver Classroom Teachers' Association backed him expecting a union vote, then supported the recall effort when he became the reform majority's swing vote.
